Why does blindly throwing Blaze Grenades in ARC Raiders Trials prevent you from getting three-star? | IGGM reveals the max-damage mechanic for you!

The weekly trials for ARC Raiders Season 4, Week 3 have been released. Since almost every task involves combat, it is bound to be a rather grueling week. Of the five trial missions, the unique one requires you to deal damage with Blaze Grenades.

While the other missions simply require you to rack up kills or loot specific enemies/items to earn a three-star rating, this particular mission requires some experimentation to maximize your score.

Therefore, to help you complete this trial quickly and to assist you in utilizing Blaze Grenades to take down more enemies in future combat scenarios, IGGM has tested the item’s functionality and mechanics to compile this comprehensive guide.

Why Throwing More Blaze Grenades is failing the specific ARC Raiders Trial Mission IGGM reveals the max-damage mechanic for you!

What do Blaze Grenades do?

In addition to firearms, you can use various grenades in ARC Raiders to inflict damage upon ARC units or hostile players; Blaze Grenade is one such explosive.

It detonates upon impact, blanketing a specific area and dealing continuous fire damage to any ARC units or players caught within its radius.

More specifically, a single Blaze Grenade burns for 10 seconds after detonation, dealing 5 points of damage per second and covering an area with a radius of 5 meters.

How to farm Blaze Grenades?

While this item may occasionally appear during general scavenging runs, the more reliable method of acquisition is to first unlock the corresponding blueprint and gather the necessary crafting materials, then craft the item at an upgraded Explosives Station 3.

How to obtain the blueprint?

In ARC Raiders, Blaze Grenade blueprint is classified as Industrial-style loot; consequently, you have the highest chance of finding it inside containers associated with this specific aesthetic.

If you wish to avoid frequent interruptions from PvP combat, farming Primary Facility on Dam Battlegrounds map is an excellent option.

However, if you need to acquire a large quantity of blueprints quickly, especially since this week’s trial mission may require you to expend a significant number of Blaze Grenades to achieve a high score, then Loading Bay in Stella Montis is undoubtedly the best hunting ground.

That said, luck isn’t always on your side, and you may occasionally find yourself unable to locate the specific blueprint you need. In such cases, you can choose to buy ARC Raiders Blaze Grenade blueprint from IGGM directly!

How to obtain other materials?

The other two materials required to craft a Blaze Grenade are Explosive Compound and Oil; each crafting attempt consumes 1 unit of the former and 2 units of the latter.

Of these, Oil is a resource you will probably accumulate in abundance while searching for Blaze Grenade blueprints, as it is classified as an industrial material.

As for Explosive Compound, the most convenient method of acquisition is to craft it directly at a Refiner 2 station. No blueprint is required; you simply need to input 2 units of Crude Explosives and 2 units of Oil per batch.

Consequently, it is evident that if you wish to maintain a sufficient supply of Blaze Grenades, Oil is a critically important and high-demand resource in ARC Raiders, so be sure to stockpile it generously.

How to achieve the highest rating in the trial mission?

Although the game does not explicitly state this, simply tossing a few Blaze Grenades during combat, as you might intuitively assume, is generally insufficient to complete this mission successfully, unless you are content with earning a rating lower than three stars.

To achieve a perfect completion of this trial mission, the implicit requirement is to maximize the damage inflicted by a single Blaze Grenade within a single usage instance.

Since the duration, damage-per-second, and blast radius of a Blaze Grenade are all fixed variables, the only factor you can actively manipulate is the density of enemies gathered within its effective range.

Therefore, the most reliable overall strategy is to first trigger the spawn of a large-class ARC unit on the current map. Matriarch is the optimal choice for this purpose; however, if you find that encounter too challenging, a Bastion will also suffice.

ARC Raiders Matriarch

Next, open fire on Matriarch to provoke it. This action will invariably trigger the arrival of the first wave of smaller ARC units, which always appear in swarms, such as Leapers, Wasps, or Hornets.

Then, once the intensity of this initial ARC assault has subsided slightly, use your Snap Hook to latch onto Matriarch. Destroy its core component, then immediately toss a Blaze Grenade directly onto the exposed core to trigger the final, massive explosion.

However, there is an alternative method that may prove even more effective, and significantly less hazardous, than destroying a Matriarch’s core: finding a way to gather a large concentration of multi-legged ARC units.

This approach works because the damage calculation mechanics in ARC Raiders are directly tied to the specific body parts of ARC units.

Consequently, if you can successfully gather a sufficiently large swarm of Leapers in one spot, you should be able to complete this mission just as quickly and efficiently.

Implications for future combat strategies

By applying the principles derived from the mission strategy outlined above, you can extrapolate a broader tactical insight: you can eliminate specific types of ARC units through it in other trial missions.

Or if you simply wish to farm specific ARC Raiders items, you can often leverage the power of Blaze Grenades to achieve those objectives as well.

Notably, Blaze Grenades themselves serve as a crafting material. Provided you have mastered Traveling Tinkerer skill, you can combine one Blaze Grenade and one piece of Wire to craft a Blaze Grenade Trap.

Once deployed, this trap projects a red laser beam with a range of five meters; should the beam be interrupted, it detonates a Blaze Grenade, inflicting surprise damage upon any enemies in the vicinity.

If you happen to have an ample supply of Blaze Grenades, you could certainly craft Blaze Grenade Traps to help complete this week’s Trial mission, though be warned, that would entail a rather substantial investment!

If you haven’t yet begun your progress on the trials, why not give the strategies outlined by IGGM a try? You might just find yourself devising some brand-new tactics of your own in the process!
